Tex Mex Mac and Cheese

When the kids are home from school, you've got to keep them busy and well-fed! Our Tex Mex Mac and Cheese does all that and more.  Johnsonville Tex Mex Style Sausage Meat brings this classic favourite to the next level by adding a little extra spice to all that cheesy goodness. If you're really adventurous, add a little extra cumin and cayenne to really make this mac and cheese pop!

What You Need

  • 1 pkg (13.23 ounces/375 g) JOHNSONVILLE Tex Mex Style Sausage Meat
  • 1 pkg elbow macaroni
  • 1 jar Tostitos salsa con queso
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 green and red pepper each, chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp ground cumin (or to preference)
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (or to preference)
  • 3 green onions, chopped fine

Preparation

  1. Cook sausage meat according to package instructions. Set aside to cool. Preheat oven to 350F.

  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions for al dente pasta.

  3. In a large bowl, combine salsa con queso, cheddar cheese, water, peppers, cumin and cayenne. Stir in sausage meat and pasta. Pour into baking dish.

  4. Place in oven and bake, covered, for approximately 20 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle green onions on top of dish and serve.
