Beer & Cheddar Sausage Soup

What You Need

  • 1 pkg JOHNSONVILLE Original Recipe Bratwurst Sausages, decased
  • 4 cups beef stock
  • 1.5 cups bottle of beer (Can substitute gluten-free beer)
  • 1 cup carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sea salt (or more if desired)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated


  1. Heat up your slow cooker on the highest setting.

  2. Add sausage, beef stock, beer, carrot, celery, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, sea salt and pepper to slow cooker. Cook on high setting for approximately 4 hours.

  3. Add heavy cream, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese, and stir using a whisk until thoroughly mixed. Add more salt and pepper to taste, if desired. Cook for another 2 hours.

  4. Serve with cheddar cheese or sour cream as garnish.
